WHAT MAKES A HERO?

ANNOUNCING THE HERO. COLLECTION BY BLōFISH CLOTHING

“Heroes are made by the paths they choose, not the powers they are graced with.”

– Brodie Ashton.

We believe that a hero isn't just the person who takes off their glasses and dons a cape. Heroes take many shapes, sizes, and colors. It doesn't matter what makes the hero, what matters is their dedication to making the world a safer place. Unfortunately, many folks who join our military to try and do just that come home unable to get the care that they so desparately need. And we want to help.

That's why we're partnering with Give an Hour this September. Give an Hour was founded in 2005 to provide mental health services to veterans. According to the RAND Center for Military Health Policy Research 20 percent of the vets who served in either Iraq or Afghanistan suffer from either major depression or post-traumatic stress disorder. However, access to care is sometimes difficuly for them to come by. Give an Hour's mission is to help vets and their families recieve the care they need, without judgment or stigma. 10% of every sale this Septmeber will benefit Give an Hour.

In addition to donating 10% of all sales, we've created a line inspired by the folks we want to help. You can pick up items from the HERO. collection all September. Throughout the month we'll continue to tell the stories of real-life heroes, as well as give you ways to help veterans that are in need.

EVENT RECAP: Ben Sollee
EVENT RECAP: Ben Sollee

Ben Sollee is originally from Lexington, KY, but now calls the city of Louisville his home. On September 12, 2018, he performed a small, intimate show in the backyard of BLōFISH Clothing's Market St. location for a group of the brand's friends and family.

The concert was more than just a reason for friends to gather, listen to his unique bluegrass take on the cello, and enjoy some craft beers from West Sixth Brewing, however. A portion of the ticket sales and t-shirts sold that evening, went to benefit BLoFISH's cause of the month, Give an Hour.

Wrestler, Veteran, Kentuckian: Mike Hayes’ Story

This month, we knew we wanted to give back to a cause that would help veterans, but we were struggling to find a name for the collection.

That all changed once we were introduced to Mike Hayes. I'll do my best to tell you about him, but be sure to listen to the podcast where he is our featured guest - his story is incredible and more than I can include in this blog alone.
