Cause of the Month: Best Buddies

We are frequently contacted by charities asking for support through our Cause of the Month. We make our best effort to put each charity through a detailed vetting process and unfortunately, some are not a good fit for BLoFISH; whether our missions do not aline or our donation is going to be too small for the organization all play a role. It's rare for us to find a non-profit we haven't heard of that line up with what we are trying to achieve as a company. Best Buddies does just that.

As an organization, Best Buddies is empowering the special abilities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

The communities Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down Syndrome, Autism, Fragile X, Williams Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.

One thing we love about the organization is its impact on the ground. With different types of programs ranging from integrated employment, to leadership development, to one-on-one friendships we know Best Buddies resources are going to the people who need it the most and not being wasted. With organizations in all 50 states and 53 countries, Best Buddies is able to ensure the programs are being set up and run according to the communities needs.

Our All 4 All mission says we believe everyone should have the same opportunities in life no matter one's sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, or abilities. I think the one that is most overlooked when we talk about equality is the last part, abilities. If you haven't met or talked to someone with IDD recently, I encourage you to please do so. We recently recorded a podcast with a participant of Best Buddies named Austin, and I can assure you the rest of my week has been better for it. We challenge you to volunteering and/or show support for your local Best Buddies charity. If you need more info check out their site here:  https://www.bestbuddies.org/

As always thank you for the support,

Logan
